AFS Excursion to John C. Campbell Folk School Brasstown, North Carolina

Description
Join us for a pre-conference daytrip to visit the Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, NC. Founded in 1925, the school has adapted its model over the years while maintaining its mission to provide social, cultural, and economic support through education and cooperative living. We’ll tour the historic campus in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains; observe artists’ demos; visit the History Center, the new exhibits at the restored Log Cabin Museum, and the Craft Shop; share meals with current students; and attend the Show-and-Tell exhibit from the week’s classes. Transportation, lunch, and supper included (note: 2.25-hour drive from conference hotel).
Pre-registration is required.
Cost: $100, includes lunch* and a bagged supper* for the bus and transportation from the hotel to the Folk School and back.
The Folk Art and Material Culture Section is offering two student scholarships for two student members of the Folk Art and Material Culture Section. (Information available through an FAMC email and on the FAMC Community Hub.)
