Atlanta- Foodways-related tour to the east side of the city

Saturday, October 18, 2025 (10:00 AM - 3:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

This foodways tour focuses on the resiliency of immigrant communities in and around Atlanta beginning with a tour of Global Growers Indian Creek Farm, which provides refugee communities with space for growing food. Located near the Indian Creek MARTA station, this farm project has been sustained for over a decade and provides the community with an avenue for financial security and food security.

Following our tour of the farm, we will enjoy a meal at one of the area's unique cultural restaurants, Two Fish Myanmar Cuisine.

The trip will end with a visit to Your Dekalb Farmer's Market, an international farmer's market that has served the Atlanta area since 1977!

Pre-registration is required.

Costs: $75 for AFS attendees, $45 for Foodways Section members, and $35 for Foodways Student Members.

Thanks to a generous subsidy from the Foodways Section, offering discounted rates for their members, more people can enjoy this bounty for less.

Maximum of 25 people, so sign up soon!
